MATH 120 - College Algebra

A course in algebra that studies families of functions and their graphs, with an emphasis on applications in finance, business, and life, social, and physical sciences. Topics include relations and functions; properties and graphs of linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions; algebra of functions; solving equations and inequalities; systems of linear equations; and sequences and series.

Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.0 in (MATH 109 w/in 10 years) or P in (NCMA 110  within 10 years) or MATH 098  concurrently or a Math Placement Score indicated below
Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 4 or (Reading Level 4 and Writing Level 4 and ENGL 099  concurrently) and (ACM3/AAF 245-259 or A02/ACT Math 22-25 or S12/SAT Math 550-610 or PS12/PSAT Math 550-610 or HS GPA 3.0 or GEDM/GED Math 165) within 10 years.
Course Note:
  1. A graphing calculator from the TI-83/84 family is required for course work. TI-84 Plus CE is recommended.
  2. This course includes on-site proctored exam(s) for all online and/or hybrid sections. Students will need to travel to an LCC campus or request an approved non-LCC testing site (additional fees may apply) to take the exam(s).
