MATH 098 - Support for MATH120 2 Credit Hour(s) / 2 Billing Hour(s) This course provides embedded academic support for students enrolled in MATH 120 . Topics include a study of relations and functions, inequalities, algebraic expressions and equations, with a special emphasis on linear and quadratic expressions and equations, and any additional topics, as needed, to support the content of MATH 120 .
Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.0 in (MATH 105 or MATH 106) or a Math Placement Score indicated below or Department Approval Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 4 or (Reading Level 4 and Writing Level 4 and ENGL 099 concurrently) and (BSM2/CPT Algebra 77-120 or BSM7/Accuplacer CLM 45-54 or S12/SAT Math 400-540 or PS12/PSAT Math 400-540 or A02/ACT Math 15-21 or ACM2/QRAS 241-300 or ACM3/AAF 235-244 or [HS GPA 2.5-2.99 w/in 10 years]). Corequisite(s): MATH 120 Course Note:
- This co-support course, MATH 098, must be taken during the same semester as MATH 120 . Contact your instructor to discuss options if either course is dropped during the semester or if a passing grade is not achieved at the end of the semester.
- A graphing calculator from the TI-83/84 series is required for course work. TI-84 Plus CE is recommended.
- Class participation is strongly recommended; participation is a significant and important part of the course to enable success in MATH 120 .
