MATH 097 - Support for MATH119 or STAT170

This course provides support for students enrolled in MATH 119  or STAT 170 . Topics include numeracy, mathematical thinking and investigations, proportional reasoning, algebraic modeling, basic geometry and statistical concepts. Graphing calculator and real-life applications are integrated throughout the course.

Prerequisite(s): None
Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 4 or (Reading Level 4 and Writing Level 4 and ENGL 099  concurrently) and (BSM2/CPT Algebra 50-76 or ACM2/QRAS 225-259 or A02/ACT Math 15-19 or S12/SAT Math 400-510 or PS12/PSAT Math 400-510 or [HS GPA 2.5-2.99 within 10 years]).
Corequisite(s): MATH 119  or STAT 170 .
Course Note:
  1. This co-support course, MATH 097, must be taken during the same semester as the college level course (MATH 119  or STAT 170 ). Contact your instructor to discuss options if either course is dropped during the semester or if a passing grade is not achieved at the end of the semester.
  2. A graphing calculator is required; a TI-83/84 series calculator is highly recommended.
  3. Class participation is strongly recommended; participation is a significant and important part of the course to enable success in the college-level course.
