CHSE 144 - Phlebotomy Externship

This course is designed to enable the student to apply procedures learned in CHSE 143, Phlebotomy Technician, to a clinical laboratory setting. While at the worksite (clinical laboratory), students will be under the supervision of a preceptor. The course includes a practical review of techniques and worksite experience.

Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.5 in CHSE 143 within 1 year. Program Approval required
Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 4
Course Note: Students will be charged a $50 fee for ACEMAPP required documentation. Required: 1) Minimum age of 18 required to enroll in this course. 2) Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens and HIPAA training online; information given at orientation. 3) Negative 2-step TB (tuberculosis) skin test within the last year. 4) Students must pass an ICHAT criminal background check prior to worksite placement; information given at orientation.
