CHSE 143 - Phlebotomy Technician
2 Credit Hour(s) / 3 Billing Hour(s)
This course is designed to prepare a person to function as a phlebotomy technician. It will provide the knowledge and skill necessary to safely and skillfully ensure patient identification, obtain a blood sample from a patient, and properly handle specimens after collection. The course includes lecture and campus laboratory.
Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
Prerequisite(s): None
Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 or (Reading Level 4 and ENGL 099 concurrently) and Writing Level 4
Course Note: Required: 1) Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens Training online; information will be distributed via the course D2L site and/or in class. 2) Students will be charged a $50 fee for ACEMAPP required documentation/testing. The ACEMAPP fee covers both CHSE 143 and CHSE 144 if taken within the same calendar year.
