MATH 151 - Calculus I

This is the first course in a three-semester calculus sequence. Topics include limits, continuity, parametric curves, derivatives of algebraic, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions, implicit differentiation, linear approximation and differentials, L’Hospital’s rule, Riemann sums, integration using the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and the substitution rule. Applications of differential and integral calculus to problems in math, natural, and social sciences are presented.

Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.0 in MATH 126  within 2 years or a Math Placement Score indicated below
Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 6 and (A02/ACT Math 29-36 or S12/SAT Math 690-800 or PS12/PSAT Math 690-800 or [ACM3/AAF 270-300 and TRIG/LCC Trigonometry Test 3]) within 2 years.
Course Note:
  1. A graphing calculator from the TI-83/84 series is required for course work; TI-89 may be used.
  2. This course includes on-site proctored exam(s) for all online sections. Students will need to travel to an LCC campus or request an approved non-LCC testing site (additional fees may apply) to take the exam(s).
