CITA 226 - Microsoft Excel-Advanced


3 Credit Hour(s) / 3 Billing Hour(s)
This course introduces more complex functions and Excel tools used in financial, and statistical analysis. Additional topics include data imports, web queries, share and merge workbooks. Students customize Excel toolbars and automate tasks with macros. Data validation and auditing tools are introduced. This course, together with CITA126, helps prepare for the Excel Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exams.

Course Note:
  • Students must be able to use web browsers and online learning tools including drop boxes, discussion boards, and e-mail. They must also have Windows file management skills, including the ability to upload and download files, make folders, move and zip files.
  • This course requires the use of a PC computer running Windows 11, 4GB Ram, High Speed Internet Connection 2 Mbit or higher, current version of Microsoft Office (see Materials section) and a MyLabIT account. Mac computers are not fully compatible and are not recommended. Equipment and software is provided for students that wish to complete assignments at the Main or West Campus computer labs. The LCC Library may offer laptops for check-out during the semester. Microsoft 365 is available to LCC students at no cost using links from the College website but may not have the full features needed to complete the work.
  • **MyLabIT: You only need to purchase one MyLabIT Access Code from the BNC bookstore. That Access Code can be used for CITA 110 - Intro to Microsoft Office , CITA 115 - Microsoft PowerPoint , CITA 119 - Microsoft Word , CITA 126 - Microsoft Excel , CITA 133 - Microsoft Access Database , CITA 219 - Advanced Microsoft Word , and CITA 226 - Microsoft Excel-Advanced. An e-book that covers all the classes listed above also comes with MyLabIT from the BNC bookstore.
