SOWK 101 - Introduction to Social Work

General Education Category: Applied Social Sciences

This course introduces the principles of professional social work practice. Emphasis is on the history of social work, social welfare policy, empowerment, and human diversity. There is an overview of social work ethical practice, roles, and careers with relevance to the diverse social and client needs. This course complies with the Social Work Competencies, Council on Standards for Social Work Education.
