CHSE 109 - LTC to AC Nurse Assistant/PCT 3 Credit Hour(s) / 4.75 Billing Hour(s) This course will prepare individuals for employment as a nurse aide/patient care technician (PCT) in hospital and rehabilitation settings who have previously completed a long-term care nurse aide training. This course will build on long-term care knowledge and skills, adding acute care and rehabilitation knowledge and skills required to deliver quality and safe basic patient care.
Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.5 in CHSE 108 within 1 year or (current CNA Certification and Department Approval) Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 4 Corequisite(s): NCHE 102 Course Note: Students who have previously completed a long-term care nurse aide training may arrange for additional acute care training to prepare for employment as a nurse aide/patient care technician (PCT) in hospital and rehabilitation settings. Required:
- Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens and HIPAA online training; information given first day of class.
- Negative 2-step TB (tuberculosis) tests within the last year.
- Students must pass an ICHAT criminal background check prior to the beginning of clinicals; information given at first class session.
- Students must meet physical requirements for the duration of course as specified in the course syllabus.
- Students will be charged a $20 fee for ACEMAPP required documentation/testing.
